Zzz's are Important 😴 My Sleep Apnea Story 🏡 We all know how important a good night's sleep is, and as a real estate agent, I need to be on top of my game ALWAYS! For over 25 years now, sleep apnea has been slowly draining me. The CPAP machine I have been using just isn't working for me. In fact, I think it is actually causing me to get LESS quality sleep than before starting to use it!! I have been struggling to go to bed and often stay up until 3 or 4am, often only getting 3-4 hours of sleep at night! With my sleep quality plummeting and my health and energy levels waning, I made the decision that it was time for a change! My amazing team of health professionals urged me to do whatever I needed to get to the bottom of my sleep issues and connected me to my ENT for help. He recommended an exploratory procedure, which revealed that my tongue was blocking my airway at night (who knew?!). That's when we decided on the Inspire implant. The procedure itself was a breeze, but I'll be honest, recovery has been tougher than I expected. Headaches, slurred speech, issues eating, you name it! It takes time for the swelling to go down and the tongue nerve to settle (sometimes as long as 30 days, or longer!). I’m hopeful that all of this in the end will be worth it! **Why did I choose Inspire?** My sleep was SERIOUSLY impacting my well-being. I wanted a solution that targeted the root cause of my sleep apnea. I trusted my ENT to guide me in the right direction **My advice to others struggling with sleep apnea?** Ask your doctor to do the exploratory procedure FIRST to understand what is causing YOUR sleep apnea. 🌟 **A Humble Lesson Learned in Real Estate** 🌟 As a real estate agent, every closing brings with it new insights and I absolutely LOVE and strive to learn and grow with each transaction, even being in the industry for 30+ years! I want to share a recent experience I had closing escrow on a townhome/condo that has taught me an invaluable lesson about the importance of getting thorough information, initiating good communication, and being proactive. It is definitely no surprise to me that Homeowners Associations (HOAs) play a significant role in the transaction process, especially when selling a condo, but this time I learned that it isn’t enough to just have the information for the HOA. As a Broker, and advocate for my clients, I am going to best serve my clients by reaching out ON THE PHONE to HOAs and opening up the line of communication. One better, get the contact information for the HOA board members. They can be very useful when things aren’t moving the way they should! During this closing, we encountered unexpected delays due to the HOA’s slow response in providing the lender information. It was a frustrating reminder that while we often rely on our lenders to manage these details, being proactive can make all the difference. Moving forward, I’ve decided to take a proactive approach. I will now be ordering not only the standard resale package but also the lender package upfront. This way, I can ensure that everything is in place and ready to go, minimizing the chances of delays that could hold up the closing process. I share this experience not just as a cautionary tale, but as a commitment to my clients. I want to do everything in my power to make their experience as seamless as possible. So, to my fellow agents and buyers out there—don’t underestimate the importance of thorough HOA information. A little extra effort upfront can save a lot of stress down the line. Who else finds resolutions frustrating? Instead of making resolutions, I’ve been picking a single word to guide me each year. Last year's word was "Simplify," and I will continue to ALWAYS work on simplifying my life, as it has changed my life in such a positive and impactful way. For 2025, my word is "Harmony." To me this means I want to ensure my actions and decisions align with my values in all areas of life—work, health, relationships, personal growth, fun & leisure, spirituality and finances. I had considered the word "Priorities" for my word in 2025, but "Harmony" just feels right. I've always thought of "balance" as something that is too big of a goal to achieve. To me, harmony is about finding inner peace, calmness, and simplicity while staying aware of my priorities. It means bringing together all parts of my life in a way that brings happiness overall. This feels more attainable to me. This January, I’m focusing on self-reflection. I’ll spend time reassessing my core values to confirm what truly matters to me.
